Information on treatment and surgery
Full Mouth Implant SurgeryThere is a total of 28 teeth, 14 on the upper and 14 on the lower arch. When a patient has lost multiple teeth, or has been wearing dentures for a long time, a full mouth implant may be desired but there may be insufficient bone and/or gums.
Full mouth implants refer to the placement of several implants to restore function and aesthetics when the entire part or row of teeth are missing. It is highly sophisticated treatment which requires advanced anatomical knowledge of the alveolar bone and mandible. Extensive experience is also critical in ensuring precision on shape and position of teeth for an optimal occlusion.
Full mouth implants are considered an extensive treatment, where 14-20 implants must be placed to create durable and natural teeth for restoration. Hence, specialist knowledge and experience in oral/maxillofacial surgery and prosthodontics is necessary.
